While staying in EcoCamp Patagonia's cozy domes, extend your trip with a visit to the stunning Perito Moreno Glacier. Known for its vivid color and immense size, this natural wonder is a must-see, and EcoCamp's extension lets you walk right up to its majestic face.
EcoCamp Extension

Rising early at EcoCamp, we enjoy breakfast before a 6:30am departure to Cerro Castillo, then head to Argentina via van. After immigration, we journey across Patagonian pampas to El Calafate, where you have a free day to explore local restaurants, tango bars, and markets.
Optionally, spend the afternoon on a self-guided Glaciarium Museum and Ice Bar tour, a leading research center on the Patagonian Icefield, followed by a visit to the ice-constructed GlacioBar.
For an extra fee, an excursion to Walichu Caves & Lakes is available.
*We strongly advise you to check Argentinian border-crossing regulations beforehand. Fees may apply.
Overnight at Kosten Aike or similar. El Calafate, Argentina
Meals: breakfast.

After an early breakfast, your private guide and vehicle will pick you up at the hotel and drive to Bajo de las Sombras port. A shared boat excursion with a local guide crosses the Rico Arm of Lake Argentino in about 20 minutes, offering close views of the southern face and towering ice walls of Perito Moreno Glacier. After a short walk, reach the glacier’s edge to touch the ice and admire its colors and shapes. Return along the lakeshore and through lush forest, then meet your guide at the port. Continue to the walkways for free time, photos, and another perspective before returning to El Calafate and transferring to the airport.
Meals: breakfast and box lunch.

Regular departures are available on request from October to April.
The trip starts around 7 am at Ecocamp Patagonia and ends at El Calafate Airport around 8 pm.
We strongly advise you to check Argentinian border-crossing regulations beforehand. Fees may apply.
EcoCamp Extensions are excursions you can book in addition to our regular EcoCamp programs, to enhance your Patagonian experience. These tours can take place before or after your main program but we strongly recommend doing them afterward to maximize your arrival experience at EcoCamp with your fellow trekking/Safari group members. Transport in and out of the park is not included as these services are covered by your regular program with EcoCamp. If you wish to book an EcoCamp Extension without any other EcoCamp program please contact us so we can give you a quote.
This trip does not demand physical activity other than optional walking along the walkways near the glacier at a relaxed pace.
EcoCamp van to Cerro Castillo where you change to the regular bus which will take you to El Calafate.
The vast unbroken stretch of ocean to the west and south of the South American continent leaves the Patagonian Andes very exposed to the saturated winds that circle the Antarctic landmass. Also, both the strong marine and the South Patagonic Ice field influence make the weather hard to predict. In spring or early summer, fine weather may deteriorate almost without warning, bringing rains and eventually snow. Even in summer (December to March) you should come prepared to find cold- strong winds (up to 130 km/hr) and rainfalls. The summer’s average temperature is 11ºC/52ºF (24ºC max, 2ºC min).
You need to bring your personal belongings and box lunch provided by EcoCamp.
We reserve the right to change the order of the days in any itinerary at the discretion of the trip guide and based on operational considerations. The trip guide can modify, change or eliminate part of the itinerary based on safety/weather considerations.
