Observe wild horses with a bilingual guide.
Trek through the pristine corners of Torres del Paine National Park.
Uncrowded, unsigned treks.
Unique scenery and panoramic views.
Theoretical and practical introduction to wild
horses.
Option 1: After breakfast, we'll drive to Laguna Azul and start a 4x4 journey through Cordillera Masle. We’ll visit a traditional "puesto" to learn about Patagonian gauchos and wild horses. Using satellite tracking, we’ll search for 100 wild horses in Torres del Paine. After observing the horses and enjoying lunch with views of Lago Stokes and the Towers, we’ll return to EcoCamp for dinner. Option 2: This option focuses on wild horse research and conservation. Similar to Option 1, but participants with basic knowledge of wild horse behavior will join our team for a day, contributing to scientific research and conservation efforts.
Overnight at EcoCamp Patagonia.
Ecocamp Patagonia is located in the heart of Torres del Paine National Park in Chile, with views of the majestic granite towers. The region’s first sustainable lodge south of the Amazon and the first of its kind in the Patagonian wilderness, EcoCamp offers upscale camping in domes inspired by the region’s ancient nomadic inhabitants.
Suite domes were designed to further our goal of providing comfort in a natural setting with minimal environmental impact, and also maintain the hotel’s familiar and cozy vibe. The domes have comfortable double or twin beds, a wood stove and a private bathroom with a state-of-the-art composting toilet.
Suite dome lofts are two-storey domes which fit up to four people and have comfortable double or twin beds both up and downstairs. These domes, ideal for families or groups of friends, come with a wood stove, a private terrace and a private bathroom with a state-of-the-art composting toilet.
Spacious, comfortable and equipped with private bathrooms, Superior Domes are the optimum choice for trekkers wanting that bit more space and comfort at the end of a long day’s walk. Each Superior Dome has comfortable queen-size or twin beds, a propane heater, skylight windows and a private bathroom with a sophisticated composting toilet
EcoCamp Standard domes were the world's first lodge accommodation in geodesic shape. They are resistant to the strong Patagonian winds, and come equipped with two single beds (doubles on request), cozy fleece blankets and feather quilts. There are windows in the ceiling for stargazing. Standard domes include shared bathrooms which are large, comfortable and gender divided.
Regular departures are available on request from September to May.
EcoCamp Extensions are excursions you can book in addition to our regular EcoCamp programs, to enhance your experience in Patagonia. These tours can take place before or after your main program, but we recommend doing them afterward to maximize your arrival experience at EcoCamp with your fellow trekking or Safari group members. Transport in and out of the park is not included as these services are covered by your regular program with EcoCamp. If you wish to book an EcoCamp Extension without any other EcoCamp program please contact us so we can give you a quote.
The trip starts and finishes at EcoCamp Patagonia.
You should be able to walk 4 to 12 Km and carry your own backpack.
The vast unbroken stretch of ocean to the west and south of the South American continent leaves the Patagonian Andes very exposed to the saturated winds that circle the Antarctic landmass. Fine weather may deteriorate almost without warning, bringing rain and even snow. Even in summer (December to March) you should come prepared to find cold- strong winds (up to 130 km/hr) and rainfall. Summer’s average temperature is 11ºC (52ºF), ranging between 2 to 24ºC (35 to 75ºF).
Travelers need to be prepared for summer and winter all at once. We recommend the following:

We reserve the right to change the order of the days in any itinerary at the discretion of the trip guide and based on operational considerations. The trip guide can modify, change or eliminate part of the itinerary based on safety/weather considerations.
