San José Volcano & Colina Hot Springs

Cajón del Maipo, Central Andes

You will leave your hotel in Santiago and travel toward Cajón del Maipo, following a scenic mountain road with views of rivers, vineyards, and rock formations. After a stop in San José de Maipo for breakfast, continue deeper into the Andes to begin the hike near San José Volcano. The trail crosses rocky slopes and mountain landscapes, with the chance to see wildflowers, snow-capped peaks, and condors. After lunch with volcano views, relax at Colina Hot Springs before returning to Santiago.

Weather

Central Chile has a mild and temperate climate. The warmest months are from November to February, when temperatures can reach 29°C / 84°F. During this low mountain trek, temperatures may drop considerably on cloudy and windy days, reaching around 15°C / 59°F.

What you need to bring

Bring light clothing such as a windbreaker, shirt, and trekking pants, plus spare clothing, trekking or good sports shoes, camera, swimsuit, towel, sandals, water bottle, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, and a comfortable backpack.
