EcoCamp Patagonia

Ecocamp Patagonia is located in the heart of Torres del Paine National Park in Chile, with views of the majestic granite towers. The region’s first sustainable lodge south of the Amazon and the first of its kind in the Patagonian wilderness, EcoCamp offers upscale camping in domes inspired by the region’s ancient nomadic inhabitants.

EcoCamp Patagonia Suite Dome

Suite domes were designed to further our goal of providing comfort in a natural setting with minimal environmental impact, and also maintain the hotel’s familiar and cozy vibe. The domes have comfortable double or twin beds, a wood stove and a private bathroom with a state-of-the-art composting toilet.

Suite dome lofts are two-storey domes which fit up to four people and have comfortable double or twin beds both up and downstairs. These domes, ideal for families or groups of friends, come with a wood stove, a private terrace and a private bathroom with a state-of-the-art composting toilet.

EcoCamp Patagonia Superior Dome
(Heating & Private bathroom, 23m²/250ft²)

Spacious, comfortable and equipped with private bathrooms, Superior Domes are the optimum choice for trekkers wanting that bit more space and comfort at the end of a long day’s walk. Each Superior Dome has comfortable queen-size or twin beds, a propane heater, skylight windows and a private bathroom with a sophisticated composting toilet

EcoCamp Patagonia Standard Dome
(Shared bathroom, 10m²/108ft²)

EcoCamp Standard domes were the world's first lodge accommodation in geodesic shape. They are resistant to the strong Patagonian winds, and come equipped with two single beds (doubles on request), cozy fleece blankets and feather quilts. There are windows in the ceiling for stargazing. Standard domes include shared bathrooms which are large, comfortable and gender divided.

What is an EcoCamp extension?

EcoCamp Extensions are optional experiences designed to complement a regular EcoCamp program. They can be added before or after your main itinerary, although we recommend completing this puma tracking extension after your principal program.

Starting and Finishing Point

The extension starts and finishes at EcoCamp Patagonia. Transfers after the overnight stay follow the schedule and destination of your main EcoCamp program.

When the extension is booked without another EcoCamp program, accommodation and transfers must be quoted separately.

Puma Sightings

Pumas roam freely through an extensive natural habitat. Sightings depend on wildlife activity and environmental conditions and can never be guaranteed.

Your specialist guide will select the most appropriate observation areas according to recent activity, tracks, weather, safety conditions, and park regulations.

Group Size

Groups normally travel with three or four participants per 4x4 vehicle. Additional vehicles can be arranged for larger groups, with a maximum of eight travelers for the extension.

Physical Demands

This experience does not require advanced physical fitness. The day may involve short walks, uneven terrain, cold conditions, and extended periods waiting quietly at observation points.

Children

There is no fixed minimum age. However, the experience is not recommended for children shorter than 1.5 m / 4.9 ft due to operational and safety considerations.

Transportation

Transportation during the tracking sessions is provided in 4x4 vehicles suitable for the roads and terrain used during wildlife observation.

Transportation to and from Torres del Paine is provided through your main EcoCamp program. Independent transportation can be arranged at an additional cost.

Responsible Wildlife Observation

Participants must follow the guide’s instructions and maintain an appropriate distance from all animals. Routes and observation points may change to avoid disturbing wildlife or interfering with natural behavior.

Weather

Patagonian weather can change quickly. Tracking may involve cold temperatures, wind, rain, or snow, even during summer. Observation areas and schedules may be modified when required for safety.
