Allow the current to sweep you past some of the most majestic landscapes on Earth during a 2-day sailing adventure along some of Torres del Paine’s most extreme landscapes. Sail on the Serrano River and encounter glaciers and stunning vistas every step of the way!
You can book this unforgettable experience as an add-on to your EcoCamp program. This tour also has a premium version.
The adventure starts in Punta Arenas, a city located on the southernmost tip of continental Chile. Our guide meets us at the airport or our hotel to give a quick briefing before taking the public bus to Puerto Natales.
After making it to Puerto Natales, a small town located on the edge of Last Hope Sound (Ultima Esperanza), a Cascada representative will be waiting to transport us to our hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure - you can dine out before settling into your cozy bed, ready to prepare for tomorrow’s exciting day!
Punta Arenas to Puerto Natales: 254 km / 158 miles / 3 hrs driving (public bus + 0.5)
Today we’ll wake up early to get to the Natales dock in time to board the catamaran that will sail through the oceanic waters of Last Hope Sound. The scenic journey will be unforgettable due to the famous Patagonian winds and sightings of local marine fauna. We will continue sailing until we reach the Bernardo O’Higgins National Park, home to diverse geological formations and the beautiful Balmaceda Glacier. Here we’ll enjoy a short walk towards the glacier lookout before boarding a Zodiac on the Serrano River.
After going over safety instructions, we’ll begin our exciting ride up the Serrano River. The amazing surroundings, with a splendid view of the Torres del Paine massif, make this ride particularly memorable. We'll even have a chance to get out and admire the Serrano waterfalls. Afterwards it’s time to board our twin boats and sail to the park administration to head off to EcoCamp!
Boat ride from Puerto Natales to O’Higgins National Park: 60 km / 37 miles / 3 hr and 15 minutes
Zodiac ride from O’Higgins National Park to Torres del Paine National Park: 40 km / 25 miles / 3 hrs
Our first option will be Weskar Lodge in Puerto Natales.
Weskar Lodge it’s a small getaway located in the seacoast of Puerto Natales, only 1,200 m from downtown. The hotel was built with Lenga wood, which is a native tree from this region, and decorated with beautiful handmade wool weaves. From the hotel, you'll catch amazing views from the Last Hope Sound and jagged mountains.
Every day from November to March.

Easy to Moderate - An average level of fitness or some experience with the featured activity is recommended. While some activities may be optional, you may still have to walk, hike, bike or paddle for 2 to 3 hours daily. This includes less demanding sea kayaking and river rafting trips (Class I-II rapids).
In Torres del Paine and throughout Patagonia, transportation is in minivans that normally seat between 8 and 14 people.
The vast unbroken stretch of ocean to the west and south of the South American continent leaves the Patagonian Andes very exposed to the saturated winds that circle the Antarctic landmass. Fine weather may deteriorate almost without warning, bringing rain and even snow. Even in Summer (December to March) you should come prepared for cold, strong winds (up to 130 km/hr), rainfall, and more. Summer’s average temperature is 11ºC (52ºF), ranging between 2 to 24ºC (35 to 75ºF).
We recommend a day backpack, waterproof parka and pants, inner isolating layer (fleece or wool), sun hat, sunscreen and sunglasses.
We reserve the right to change the order of the days in any itinerary at the discretion of the trip guide based upon operational considerations. The trip guide can modify, change, or eliminate part of the itinerary based on these considerations.
