We’re waiting to design your ideal ski trip in Chile so the itinerary is totally up to you! But if you’re not sure where to start, here’s an idea of the sort of thing you could ask for:
Example Day, Skiing in Valle Nevado
Valle Nevado, Chile
Your custom ski adventure begins with a 7am pick-up from your hotel in Santiago that marks the start of your journey out of the city and up into the glittering white mountains beyond. The road takes a winding route up into the mountains and the views across the peaks of the endless Andes Mountains only get better as you climb. You arrive at Valle Nevado ski resort at around 9am and pick out your skis and equipment before a brief orientation talk. You’ll be given a map so you can head off to explore the 2,000 acres of slopes for a day of independent skiing or if you prefer you can arrange to take classes with one of the many English-speaking guides at the ski centre.
You’ll break around midday for a well-earned lunch at Don Giovanni restaurant before you head back to the slopes for an afternoon of skiing until the lifts stop running at 5pm. You’ll then return your equipment and it’s back to the van for the journey back to Santiago where you’ll arrive at around 7pm.
Example Day, Skiing in La Parva
La Parva, Chile
Day two of your bespoke winter adventure in Chile starts early once again and follows the same meandering road as you took the day before to begin your climb into the Andes Mountains, as La Parva ski resort is just a short distance from Valle Nevado. Once you’ve collected your ski equipment you can again take skiing classes or choose to hit the slopes straight away. You’ll enjoy La Parva’s 30 different runs throughout the morning before breaking for lunch in one of the resort’s five restaurants, followed by another full afternoon on the slopes.
You’ll return your kit once the lifts close at 5.30pm before returning to the van and winding down the road back to Santiago where you’ll arrive at your hotel in time for dinner at around 7.30pm.
Example Day, Skiing in El Portillo
El Portillo, Chile
Day three of your bespoke Chile skiing tour might take you in a slightly different direction, out to the boutique ski resort of El Portillo ski resort, 160 kilometers north-east of Santiago. Again the road corkscrews up and up with spectacular mountain views at every turn until you reach the resort that lies just beneath a mountain pass into nearby Argentina. You’ll start by getting kitted out before it’s time for more skiing classes or a day on the slopes at this world renowned resort, where the long groomed runs and big mountain skiing are suited to beginners and experts alike. You’ll enjoy lunch at one of the resort’s five restaurants before you live up your final afternoon amid the central Andean peaks. The lifts close at 5pm, by which time you’ll be ready to hand back your skis and settle into the van for the ride back to Santiago, where you’ll arrive in time for dinner and a nightcap in the wintery city.
Example Day, Rest day and travel to Chillán
After three days of hard skiing you’ll be ready for a rest and a change of scenery. In the morning you’ll have free time to enjoy some of Santiago’s sights and enjoy lunch in the city. Then you’ll be collected from your hotel and taken to the airport for a short one hour flight south to the city of Concepción. Then you’ll relax in the van for a scenic overland journey across the width of the country, cruising along good roads bordered by eucalyptus and pine trees. You’ll soon spot the smoking Nevados de Chillán volcanoes on the horizon and take the winding road up into the snowy peaks. On arrival at the ski resort’s comfortable hotel you’ll have time to wash up and settle into your room before enjoying dinner at the hotel.
Example Day, Off-piste skiing in Chillán and thermal springs
After yesterday’s well-earned rest you’ll be all set to enjoy a full morning of off-piste skiing on the flanks of an active volcano. You’ll fuel up with a hearty breakfast in the hotel before collecting your ski gear and hitting the slopes. Today you’ll enjoy skiing a sweeping off-piste run around the perimeter of the complex. The uncrowded route includes lots of natural bowls and gullies formed by years of volcanic eruptions that make for an enthralling ride. Arriving back at base in time for lunch you’ll return your equipment and enjoy a break and a hot meal before you indulge in an afternoon of rest and relaxation. The Spa at Nevados de Chillán makes the most of the naturally hot springs rich in minerals that are heated by volcanic activity. You’ll bathe in the warm swimming pools, relax in the sauna or cover yourself in volcanic mud. You can even opt for an aromatherapy massage to prepare yourself for your final day on the slopes.
Example Day, Snowcat skiing in Chillán
For your last day in Chillán you’re in for something extra-special. After a filling breakfast in the hotel you’ll pick up your skis and board a state-of-the-art snowcat with a fully-enclosed comfortable cabin and space for up to ten riders. The snowcat will take you to areas of the resort that many visitors don’t get to see, like the top of the Nuevo Volcano at a height of 3186 metres, and you’ll have ample opportunity to enjoy the spectacular views and snap photos on the way. After a journey of just 20 minutes you’ll get down from the snowcat and warm up on the slopes before you begin the unforgettable 1,000 metre descent back to base. In the afternoon you’ll be free to enjoy the hotel facilities or even do some more skiing if your legs can take it! You’ll watch the sun set over the cone-shaped peaks before a delicious dinner back at the hotel.
Example Day, Return to Santiago
Today it’s goodbye Chillán! You’ll enjoy your final breakfast in the hotel with a view across the volcanic mountains before boarding the van for the journey back to Concepción airport. You’ll take the short flight back to Santiago with a final aerial panorama of the captivating mountains as you leave. Once at Santiago airport you’ll be ready to connect to your flight home or set off on your next Chile adventure!
