"Where's that coming from? That rhythmic pounding, that galloping sound. Starting off from far away, it's getting closer...as if about to pass right in front of us!” Thankfully, it's not a guy hiding behind a tree clapping coconut shells together! Far better, that galloping signals the arrival of a herd of baguales, or wild Patagonian horses, who roam the steppe after escaping the gauchos’ domesticity.
The land of the wild
Even today, Patagonia is home to these untamed horses - masters of their surroundings, owned by no one and glimpsed only by those who have learned their language: Patagonia's master trackers.
During March and April 2016, we’re thrilled to invite our Wildlife Safari participants to meet Patagonia’s beautiful baguales. Just imagine walking through the wilds of southern Chile on the lookout for its powerful wild horses with expert trackers? In fact, we challenge you to even think of "Patagonian wild horses" without coming over in travel-anticipation goosebumps! Available Mondays in March (starting from 7th) and April 2016, our Wild Horse Tracking is the newest excursion available on our popular Wildlife Safari program.
But why travel in April, anyway?
Fall is an under-appreciated month, as many hikers favor the summer. What those travelers might not know is that fall brings with it a slew of major bonuses, among them less congested hiking trails, greater peace and quiet in the park, the possibility of closer encounters with Torres del Paine’s famed fauna, lighter winds, beautifully-hued foliage, and cheaper flights.
