Cascada Expediciones and EcoCamp Patagonia Offset Emissions for 5th Year!

Cascada Expediciones and EcoCamp Patagonia have offset their carbon emissions once again for the 2012-2013 season, marking the 5th consecutive year in which we’ve kept our pledge to remain carbon free! In 2008, Ecocamp became a Carbon Neutral company with the aim of minimising CO2 emissions as far as possible and offsetting any emissions it couldn’t avoid. Between June 2009 and June 2010 EcoCamp offset 183.680 tonnes of CO2 emissions and between July 1st 2010 and June 30th 2011 they offset 229.402 tonnes. Most recently, EcoCamp Patagonia offset 312.180 tonnes of carbon emissions and also had 50 trees planted in their honour, in recognition of their 5 year carbon neutral anniversary!

At EcoCamp we reduce pollution caused by transportation by buying all of our food from local farm suppliers, minimising the distance that ingredients have to travel. This differs from many other hotels who take delivery of food from flown in from the capital or even from abroad. In addition, all handicrafts and decorations and even some furniture at EcoCamp is made by local artisans who also live nearby and have less far to travel when making a delivery.
