We are proud to announce that Cascada Expediciones has been awarded first place in the category “Chile’s Leading Tour Operator” at the World Travel Awards 2025

Isabel Menendez, Sales Director of Cascada Expediciones and EcoCamp Patagonia, shares her appreciation: “This award is a recognition of the hard work of all our team members and partners over the years. We would like to thank them, as well as everyone who has traveled with us and voted for us, for their constant support and trust."

We also won this recognition in 2023.

From kayaking trips to leading tour operator

Cascada Expediciones was founded in 1991, offering rafting and kayaking trips and expeditions on Chile’s Bío Bío River. As dams were built for hydroelectric plants in the region, the focus shifted from kayaking to expanding the company as a tour operator.

Today, 34 years later, we continue to show travelers from all over the world the beauty of Chile in an adventurous way. Over the years, our trips have also expanded to Argentina and the Uyuni Salt Flats in Bolivia. To offer travelers the best experience, we work with local partners who are specialists in their regions.

About the World Travel Awards

The World Travel Awards, also known as the Oscars of tourism, are a series of prizes given each year in the travel industry across more than 50 categories worldwide. These categories range from cultural, natural, and urban destinations to hotels, lodges, resorts, airlines, tour operators, cruises, and much more. Candidates are nominated by the organization, after which both the general public and travel professionals can vote. Votes from travel professionals count twice as much.

This year marked the 32nd edition of the awards, and the ceremony for the South American prizes took place in Cancún, Mexico on September 27, 2025.

Several tourism companies in Chile received awards this year, and the country itself won in five categories:

  • South America’s Leading Adventure Tourism Destination
  • South America’s Leading Cruise Destination
  • South America’s Leading Green Destination
  • South America’s Leading Nature Destination
  • South America’s Most Romantic Destination: awarded to the Atacama Desert
