EcoCamp Patagonia season extends until end of April 2012

We are extending EcoCamp Patagonia’s season giving trekkers a chance to make the most of Torres del Paine before the season’s close. We were lucky enough to be completely unscathed by the fire which swept through the western sector of the park in late December and we are operating at full capacity with just minor changes to our multi-day treks and Wildlife Safari.

We are very happy to announce that the fire in Torres del Paine National Park, which has affected over 12,000 hectares in the park’s south-western sector, is currently under control. This means that the fire is no longer expanding and that the almost 800 firefighters working to control the blaze have the focal points under control and are working to extinguish the fire.

Close to having the fire in Torres del Paine under complete control!

A day of low wind, which has allowed helicopter flight and reduced the speed of the fire’s expansion, together with moderately intense rain have helped to control the fire in Torres de Paine National Park. The authorities predict that today they will have three of the six remaining focus areas under control and should these conditions remain, we will be close to having the fire under complete control.

EcoCamp’s Micro Safari - Small is Beautiful!

This season EcoCamp Patagonia is introducing a new Micro Safari, inviting guests to learn more about the park’s flora and fauna on EcoCamp’s doorstep. The self-guided educative trail is a micro exploration of the diverse vegetation and fauna, designed for observing the variety of plant species surrounding the domes and taking photo close-ups. This mini activity is ideal for guests participating in EcoCamp’s Patagonian Wildlife Safari who are looking for an activity upon arrival or a relaxing break one morning or afternoon.
