our mission
Exploring & Adventure in Chile
In Chile in order to get to the wildest and most attractive places the traveler has to get out of a vehicle and either walk, ride a horse, navigate or even fly to the destination. For this reason most of our programs will require the traveler to be active to a certain extent.
Trekking
The best known trails are in Patagonia within Torres del Paine National Park. In between the most superb sights of the southern cone you trek moderate routes from 5 to 10 day of walking, 5-6hrs/day. In the Lake district treks are shorter and trails crawl dense temperate forests that hide emerald lagoons. In the central Andes, the landscape changes abruptly and trails follow the steep path of cattle herds gaining significant altitude.
Rafting & W.W. Kayaking
To some knowledgeable rafters & kayakers the rivers are to Chile what the mountains are to Nepal. Over 300 rivers, 80 runnable commercially and just 8 being widely open to public makes this country a paradise for whitewater lovers. This slender strip of land gives virtually every major river access to the Pacific creating superb landscape and paddling conditions in its path. The most famous run is Futaleufu (class 5, 5day).
Horseback riding
In Chile in order to get to the wildest and most attractive places the traveler has to get out of a vehicle and either walk, ride a horse, navigate or even fly to the destination. For this reason most of our programs will require the traveler to be active to a certain extent.
Mountaineering
The highest mountains outside the Himalayas are located in the Andes in between Chile and Argentina. The most significant summits with routes that don´t require technical skills but spirit and good physical conditions are: Aconcagua (11day, 6.959m/23.200ft), Vn.Ojos del Salado(10day, 6.893m/22.980ft), Vn.Licancabur, Cerro Plomo (5day, 5.424m/12.600ft ) and many others.
Wildlife Watching
There are two special sites in Chile to observe extraordinary animal life amidst the most extraordinary landscape: the Altiplano (Chungara National Park) and Patagonia (Torres del Paine N.P). The first one offers the naturalist the chance to observe the prolific birdlife inhabiting breathtaking lagoons above 4.000m/13.000ft and four different types of cameloids. In Patagonia one can observe marine birds when navigating the fjords and many different species of birds and mammals while walking in the steppe and meadows beneath the impressive sight of the craggy mountains.
Soft Adventure
There are still pretty good opportunities to observe splendid sights away from crowds, which are infrequent in Chile anyway, if you carefully drive along the less accessible roads. Once the road ends we will encourage you to tread lightly in virgin forests, through narrow passages carved from sandstone, by gentle riverine trails or any other natural way through the pristine Chile.
Corporate Programs
The diversity of activities mentioned above, the challenging environments and the high quality infrastructure makes Chile an excellent destination for corporate programs such as incentive trips and team building programs. Cascada Expediciones boasts the greatest experience in outdoor activities for local and multinational companies, having organized many programs of diverse complexity and for groups of 10 to 400 person.
