Wine, trekking & Zip-lining
Maipo Valley, Central Chile
Early in the morning the van picks us up from our hotel in Santiago and we head out of the city towards Viña La Montaña, a novel project in the Maipo Alto zone located at the foot of the Andes Mountains. After an hour’s drive we reach the vineyard and are welcomed at reception and given a short introduction to the vinyard and its surroundings. We board a unique truck from the 1950s that takes us to the start of the trekking trail leading through a small, beautiful forest with local flora and fauna.
The trek ends with zip-lining! After a safety briefing, we climb up to the first ‘canopy’ launching platform on a cliff with a spectacular view. The next kilometre is an exhilarating stretch of four zip lines, looking out over magnificent landscape. After completing the last canopy line we are rewarded with a Chilean barbecue and a tasting of the remarkable La Montaña Wine. This is the perfect time to talk about the day’s experience and relax over great food and wine. After lunch there is a short while to rest and enjoy the surroundings before we head to our next destination.
If you chose to visit Paseo del Vino Wine Museum:
Just a few minutes drive from Viña La Montaña we reach Paseo del Vino, an entertaining Winery-School-Museum with an energetic owner teaching visitors how to produce wine. Here we learn all about the Chilean artisanal way of making wine and also about how nature cycles and geography affect the wine production in Chile. We finish with a superb wine tasting.
If you chose to visit Viña Pérez Cruz:
Just a few minutes drive from Viña La Montaña we reach Viña Perez Cruz. This boutique winery was founded in the early 1990s and has impressive grounds. The tour takes us through the wine’s modern facilities and to the cellar where we enjoy a tasting of some of the vineyard's premium varieties.
We then go back to Santiago after our unforgettable day of wine and adventure!
